Rāʿat qulūbal ʿidā anbāʾu biʿthatihi
Kanabʾatin ajfalat ghuflan minal ghanami
The news of his being sent had cast fear into the hearts of foes
as heedless sheep are startled by sudden noise.
The news of his being sent alarmed the hearts of the foes,
Just like a roar causing heedless sheep to startle and flee.

He continued to meet them on every battleground
Until spears cut them, like meat on a butcher’s block.
He kept courageously facing them at each battlefield,
Till they were butchered by spears like meat in a butchery.

Bahkan karena putus asa, hampir saja mereka berharap
segera mati lalu tubuhnya dibawa terbang burung elang dan rajawali.
They longed to flee, almost jealous of
The dead flesh carried off by hawks and vultures.
They longed to flee so much that they watched the parts carried off
By buzzards and vultures in a state of near jealousy.

The nights passed with them unaware of their number,
Apart from the nights of the Sacred Months.
The nights would pass with them unaware the number of them,
Except the nights of the Sacred Months of tranquility.

As if the religion were a guest that had arrived at their courtyard,
With every honoured chieftain eager for the flesh of their foes.
As if religion had been a guest arrived at their yard,
With every nobleman craving meat of the enemy.

Yajurru baḥra khamīsin fawqa sābiḥatin
Yarmī bi mawjin minal abṭāli multaṭimi
Islam bagai tamu yang menggerakkan lautan pasukan penunggang kuda nan berenang jaya.
Ia membawa kesatria pemberani bak debur ombak samudra karena banyaknya.
Bringing forth a sea of soldiers on swift steeds,
Tossing wave upon wave of onrushing heroes.
It brought an ocean of troops on gracefully-floating steeds,
Advancing waves made of heroes, surging successively.

All responding to Allah’s call and anticipating reward,
Boldly charging on, and uprooting disbelief.
Each in response to the call of God, in hope of reward,
Attacking armed to uproot and shatter idolatry.

Until the religion of Islam was, through them,
Reunited in kinship after being in exile.
Until the Faith of Islam, with them among it, became-
Once having been foreign-now a unified family.

Makfūlatan abadan minhum bi khayri abin
Wa khayri baʿlin fa lam taytam wa lam taʾimi
Forever protected from [foes] by the best of fathers and husbands,
So that she was no longer an orphan or a widow.
Protected forever from them by the best father and
Best husband, so not an orphan or a widow is she.

They were mountains! Ask those who came to blows with them
What they saw from them on every field of battle.
They are the mountains, so ask about them their battle-foe,
At every battle, the things from them that he used to see.

Seasons of death, more disastrous for them than the plague!
And ask Hunayn, question Badr, and even ask Uhud, too-
Events of death for them, worse than plague in catastrophe.
12 ▶︎
Almuṣdiril bīḍi ḥumran baʿda mā waradat
Minal ʿidā kulla muswaddin minal limami
Pedang para sahabat yang putih berkilau berubah menjadi merah padam
setelah banyak melibas leher musuh yang muda nan kuat.
White swords returned, dripping red after taking drink
From beneath the black heads of all their enemies.
Returning white blades now turned to crimson after they reached
The fighters with flowing hair of black from the enemy.
13 ▶︎
Like scribes with wielded spears for pens,
Leaving no letter of a body unmarked with dots.
Inscribing with spears of Lettering, their pens didn't leave
A body line with undotted i, and crossed every t.
14 ▶︎
Well-armed, they were distinguished by a clear sign,
as a rose differs from an acacia tree in its features.
With sharpened weapons they had a mark to set them apart;
A rose is set by its mark apart from a thorny tree.
15 ▶︎
Tuhdī ilayka riyāḥun naṣri nashrahumu
Fataḥsabuz zahra fīl akmāmi kulla kamī
Angin kemenangan mengirimkan kepadamu harumnya kabar gembira bala tentara
The winds of victory bring you their scent as a gift;
You would think each armed hero a flower in bud!
The victory winds convey to you the sweet news of them;
So flowers in bloom you'd reckon every soldier to be.
16 ▶︎
Ka annahum fī ẓuhūril khayli nabtu ruban
Min shiddatil ḥazmi lā min shiddatil ḥuzumi
Tatkala menunggang kuda, mereka laksana pepohonan di atas bukit nan tinggi.
Mereka sangat kokoh karena kuatnya kemantapan, bukan karena ikatan tali pelana.
As if, riding their steeds, they were flowers on a hill-top
Held firm not by strong stirrups, but by strength of resolve.
They were in horseback like firmly-rooted plants up on hills-
From grit so solid, not girth of saddle held solidly.
17 ▶︎
Their forceful onslaught so put their foes’ hearts to flight
that you could not have told a herd from a warrior.
The enemies' hearts were fluttering in fear of their force,
Unable to tell a lamb apart from brave cavalry.
18 ▶︎
Wa man takun birasūliLlāhi nuṣratuhu
In talqahul usdu fī ājāmihā tajimi
For the one whose help comes from the Emissary of Allah
Even lions finding him in their dens will be loth to face him.
Whoever is aided by the Messenger of Allah,
If lions meet him inside their woods, they bow silently.
19 ▶︎
You will not see one saint who is not victorious through him;
Or a single foe of his who is not dealt mortal blows.
You will not see any saint that isn't victorious
Through him, nor any opponent not destroyed utterly.
20 ▶︎
He gave his nation sanctuary in the stronghold of his faith,
As a lion settles in with its cubs in a thicket.
He put his nation to dwell inside the fort of his faith;
Like lion dwelling inside the forest with progeny.

Kam jaddalat kalimātuLlāhi min jadilin
Fīhi wa kam khaṣamal burhānu min khaṣimi
Seringkali ayat suci al-Qur'an jatuhkan para penantang dalam berdebat.
Betapa banyak dalil pasti al-Qur'an kalahkan orang-orang yang suka memusuhi.
How often have Allah’s words felled his opponents,
And how often the Qur’an has defeated its enemies!
How often the words of God refuted the quarrelsome
About him! How often proof defeated the enemy!
22 ▶︎
The erudition of an unlettered one is miracle enough
in an Age of Ignorance, as is an orphan’s education.
Enlightenment in the one unread is wonder enough,
In Age of Darkness; and good upbringing in orphancy.
