Ẓalamtu sunnata man aḥyādh ẓalāma ilā
Anishtakat qadamāhuḍ ḍurra min warami
Kutinggalkan sunnah Baginda Nabi ﷺ yang selalu menghidupkan gelapnya malam
dengan ibadah hingga kedua kaki beliau terasa sakit sebab membengkak.
I have wronged the Sunna of him who enlivened the dark nights
By praying till his feet complained of painful swelling.
I've violated the way of him who livened the dark,
Until his feet had complained of swelling up painfully;

He placed a stone over his belly and soft skin,
Tightening a belt over it to diminish the hunger pangs.
And out of hunger, would bind his abdomen and would wrap
Beneath a hard stone a waist whose skin is so velvety.

Wa rāwadat-hul jibālush shummu min dhahabin
ʿAn nafsihi fa arāhā ayyamā shamami
Lofty mountains tried, to tempt him with turning to gold,
But he showed them the height of his own loftiness!
The lofty mountains made into gold for him tried to be
A way to bait him, so he true loftiness let them see.

His dire neediness only strengthened his detachment;
neediness like his never leads to transgression.
His "poverty" only strengthened his disinterest in them;
For never are protectees assaulted by poverty.

Wa kayfa tadʿū ilad dunyā ḍarūratu man
How could need tempt him with worldliness, when but for him
The world would not have emerged from non-existence?
How could it tempt to this world-the "poverty" of him who
If not for him, the whole world would not have been made to be.

juga pemimpin bangsa Arab dan non-Arab.

And both classes [of people]: Arabs and non-Arabs.
Muhammad, the master of both worlds and both beings and
Both groups: the Arabs and the non-Arab community;

Our Prophet, who commands and who forbids;
None is more true than him in saying “yes” or “no”.
Our prophet, who is commander and forbidder-there is
No one more true in his saying no or yes than is he.

Huwal ḥabībul ladhī turjā shafāʿatuhu
Li kulli hawlin minal ahwāli muqtaḥami
Beliaulah sang Kekasih Allah yang sangat diharapkan syafaat beliau
dari setiap keadaan mencekam pada saat genting.
He is the Beloved whose intercession is hoped for,
Victorious over every terror and disaster.
He is the loved one whose intercession we're hopeful of,
At every horror to hit-yes, every calamity.

Daʿā ilaLlāhi fal mustamsikūna bihi
Mustamsikūna biḥablin ghayri munfaṣimi
Baginda Nabi ﷺ mengajak menuju agama Allah. Berpegangteguhlah padanya.
He called [people] to Allah, so those who hold fast to him
Are holding fast to a rope that never shall break.
He has invited to God, so all who grip onto him
Are gripping rope that will never fray for eternity.

He excelled the other Prophets in form and qualities;
Their knowledge and nobility did not come near his.
He tops the prophets in both appearance and character;
They don't approach him in knowledge or in gen'rosity.

Wa kulluhum min rasūliLlāhi multamisun
Gharfan minal baḥri aw rashfan minad diyami
Mereka semua mengambil dari Baginda Nabi ﷺ
seciduk lautan maupun seteguk air hujan dari ilmu beliau.
They all seek something from Allah’s Emissary –
handfuls from the sea, or small sips of drizzle.
And all of them are receiving from Allah's Messenger
A sip from down-pouring rain or handful scooped from the sea.
12 ▶︎
They all stand before him, observing their limits;
Dots to his knowledge, or vowel-marks to his wisdom.
And all are standing before him at their own limits fixed:
A dot of knowledge or mark from words of sagacity.
13 ▶︎
Fa huwal ladhī tamma maʿnāhu wa ṣūratuhu
Thummaṣṭafāhu ḥabīban bāriʾun nasami
Beliaulah nabi yang sempurna batin dan zahirnya.
Tuhan Sang Pencipta pun memilih beliau sebagai kekasih.
It is he whose meaning and form attained perfection
Then the Maker of Souls chose him for His beloved.
He is the one with perfected essence and outward form;
Picked as the love of the Maker of all humanity.

Munazzahun ʿan sharīkin fī maḥāsinihi
Exalted above having a rival in his perfections;
In him is the undivided essence of beauty.
Beyond a partner in his so beautiful qualities;
Yes, undivided in him is beauty's whole entity.

Eschew the claim Christians have made for their Prophet.
Then say in his praise what you will, but wisely!
Avoid what Christians have claimed about their own messenger;
And give to him any praise you wish, and praise sensibly.
16 ▶︎

Wansub ilā dhātihi mā shiʾta min sharafin
Wansub ilā qadrihi mā shiʾta min ʿiẓami
Nisbahkanlah sesukamu segala kemuliaan kepada Baginda Nabi ﷺ.
Sematkanlah segala keagungan derajat kepada beliau sekehendakmu.
Ascribe whatever honour you will to his essence,
And ascribe what greatness you will to his worth;
Ascribe to his person what you wish of nobility;
Ascribe to his stature what you wish of immensity.
17 ▶︎

Fa inna faḍla rasūliLlāhi laysa lahu
Ḥaddun fa yuʿriba ʿanhu nāṭiqun bifami
Sungguh, keutamaan Baginda Nabi ﷺ tak ada
batasnya. Lisan pun tak mampu mengungkapkan dengan kata.
For the worth of Allah’s Emissary has no limit
That could be expressed by a human mouth.
Indeed, Allah's Messenger's perfection has no frontier
That any speaker could ever verbalize orally.
18 ▶︎
If his miracles were commensurate with his greatness,
The mere mention of his name would give life to dry bones.
And were his marvels to match his worth in greatness, his name,
When called, would give life to bones decayed to nihility.
19 ▶︎
He did not try us with things that confound the mind
Out of concern for us, so we neither doubted nor strayed.
He tried us not, from concern, with things that boggle the mind;
And so we haven't faced any doubt or perplexity.
20 ▶︎

Aʿyal warā fahmu maʿnāhu falaysa yurā
Fīl qurbi wal buʿdi fīhi ghayru munfaḥimi
Semua makhluk lemah tak mampu memahami hakikat Baginda Nabi ﷺ. Tak seorang pun bisa mengenal beliau
dari dekat maupun dari jauh, kecuali berdiam diri tak berdaya.
Man’s mind is exhausted trying to understand his meaning;
All of them, near or far, appear as if dumbstruck.
Conceiving his meaning has exhausted the universe;
So near or far, one not dumbstruck by it you will not see.

Kash shamsi taẓ-haru lil ʿaynayni min buʿudin
He is like the sun: small to the eye when seen from afar,
But dazzling to the sight when seen close up.
Much like the sun: from afar it does appear small to eyes,
And would impair any vision when in proximity.

How can his reality be grasped in this world
By sleeping folk, distracted from him by dreams?
And how could people asleep, distracted from him by dreams,
Begin to grasp in the present world his reality!
23 ▶︎
The extent of our knowledge is that he is a mortal –
And that he is the best of Allah’s creation!
The peak of knowledge about him is that he is a man
And is the best of Allah's creation, entirely.

Every miracle produced by the noble Emissaries
Came to them by virtue of his light alone
And all the marvels the noble messengers have conveyed
Have come to them from the light of Ahmad exclusively.
25 ▶︎
Fa innahu shamsu faḍlin hum kawākibuhā
Yuẓ-hirna anwārahā lin nāsi fidh ẓulami
Baginda Nabi ﷺ laksana matahari kemuliaan, sedangkan para nabi bagaikan bintang-bintang siarah.
For he is the sun of virtue, and they are its planets;
They display its lights to mankind in the darkness.
He is the Sun of esteem, to which they are as if moons:
Reflecting its lights in darknesses to humanity.

How noble the qualities of a Prophet beautified by such traits:
Full of beauty, and marked by smiles and good cheer!
How grand the form of a Prophet brightened by character,
Enveloped by handsomeness, distinguished by jollity!

Kaz zahri fī tarafin wal badri fī sharafin
Wal baḥri fī karamin wad dahri fī himami
Keindahan beliau laksana bunga, kemuliaan beliau bak bulan purnama,
kedermawanan beliau bagaikan samudra, dan cita-cita beliau seperti perjalanan masa.
Like flowers in delicate beauty, like the full moon in honour;
like the sea in generosity, like time in persistence.
Like flowers in fineness, the full moon in ascendancy,
The ocean in giving, and all time in tenacity.

So majestic was his presence that even when alone
he appeared surrounded by a large army and retinue.
When he's alone and you meet him, he is like one amid
An army and entourage, because of his majesty.

It is as if precious hidden pearls, sparkling from their shells,
came from the treasure-mine of his speech and smile.
From treasure chests of his eloquence and his beaming grin
Do seem to be pearls preserved within their shells preciously.

Lā ṭība yaʿdilu turban ḍamma aʿẓumahu

No perfume can match the ground that holds his bones.
Blessed are those who breathe in its fragrance or kiss it!
No scent compares to the earth embracing his blessed form;
For him who sniffs it or kisses it what felicity!
